		<description>
	Blankets for the Future
	Blankets for the Future is a series of sculptural blankets made from seeds native to the Gulf South — acorns from live oak, water oak, and overcup oak, and the clinging burrs of cocklebur — joined with brass into suspended, lattice-like fields. Arranged in repeating clusters, the works draw on quilting as a structure of protection, echoing the interwoven root systems and seed-dispersal strategies of flood-adapted species that hold disappearing ground together against erosion. The series situates seeds as tools for memory, survival, and repair within a landscape shaped by ongoing transformation.

		<description>
	Hunting for Orchids
In 1944, Edward James, an English aristocrat and patron of Surrealism, arrived in Xilitla, Mexico. He had fled England after his wife named his homosexuality in their divorce papers. Rumor has it he met Plutarco Gastélum, "a tour guide who brought him hunting." Locals will clarify they were hunting for orchids, which had become a European craze and colonial fantasy.

They also confirm a long, secret queer relationship that led to a collaboration: Las Pozas, a surrealist garden in the jungle. As the two traveled the world, they sent inspiration back to their fabricators on photographs and postcards; fabricators who remain uncredited to this day for the moldes and concrete structures that make up Las Pozas. My interest in the story, and in the site, is how desire, extraction, and the power to name decide who is remembered.

		<description>
Sigils Work
Sigils turn like weathervanes, warning intruders and welcoming allies. Built from forged steel, brass, concrete, stone, handmade nests, and patina, the works borrow the language of symbols, talons, condor bodies, and deities. Their forms reference beings shaped through captivity and reintroduction, and gesture toward queer survival, protection, and kinship formed under constraint. As the viewer moves, letters fragment and reassemble, shifting between message, omen, and abstraction.

	Tools of Resistance

Tools of Resistance is a series of interactive audio sculptures made from interviews with organizers, cultural workers, and advocates whose lives connect resistance to memory, land, law, culture, and collective care. Each sculpture holds a recorded conversation inside an object. Headphones invite viewers to listen while materials such as library cards, flowers, cassette tapes, and collection buckets. Handwritten questions become physical extensions of the stories being told.

The series asks how resistance is preserved, practiced, and passed on.
	Tools of Resistance: Pat Bryant, 2022Mixed media sculpture with audio interview

This work centers on a recreated library card referencing Pat Bryant’s father becoming the first Black person to integrate the Smithfield, North Carolina Public Library. Headphones play excerpts from an interview with Bryant on organizing, history, and cultural change.

The recreation of Bryant’s father’s lost library card was made through research in the State Archives of North Carolina, with guidance from members of the Black Caucus of the American Library Association.&#60;img width="4032" height="3024" width_o="4032" height_o="3024" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/bd4133a76ba9a6da60b61e1dfce4eb9a26f213d1d28a683ce7f94b5cf2495c1b/IMG_7429.JPG" data-mid="249263750" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/bd4133a76ba9a6da60b61e1dfce4eb9a26f213d1d28a683ce7f94b5cf2495c1b/IMG_7429.JPG" /&#62;&#60;img width="4032" height="3024" width_o="4032" height_o="3024" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/b87223464360d6e0e1372e07887e97580ef4bcd7455447d527bcaedc5c846f40/IMG_7422.JPG" data-mid="249263749" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/b87223464360d6e0e1372e07887e97580ef4bcd7455447d527bcaedc5c846f40/IMG_7422.JPG" /&#62;&#60;img width="3024" height="4032" width_o="3024" height_o="4032" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/9bab93839feca096fbcb695bee1baa56701281842d35cf1540dec8ae125539e5/IMG_7444.JPG" data-mid="249263751" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/9bab93839feca096fbcb695bee1baa56701281842d35cf1540dec8ae125539e5/IMG_7444.JPG" /&#62;

Tools of Resistance: Mariah Moore, 2022Mixed media sculpture with audio interview

Tools of Resistance: Anne Rolfes, 2022Mixed media sculpture with audio interview

This work focuses on the bucket, an accessible air-testing tool used by residents to collect air samples near refineries and chemical plants. Connected to Anne Rolfes’s work with the Louisiana Bucket Brigade, the sculpture considers how communities transform lived experience into evidence they can use to understand, document, and challenge toxic pollution.

	Underfoot
Performance, public intervention, and photographic installation

Underfoot gathers photographs from public actions made close to the ground. At civic, carceral, and communal sites, I knelt into sidewalks, streets, and broken patches of earth, pressing short questions into concrete and soil.

The project began as a participatory performance at Solitary Gardens’ Grief Garden dedicated to Herman Wallace of the Angola 3, who often said, “morality and legality do not shake hands.” Together, participants read from the garden’s library and posed a new question as a permanent installation:

“where do morality and legality diverge?”

The work expanded into the streets through temporary inscriptions placed in potholes outside the New Orleans Municipal Court and the Orleans Parish jail entrance. Repeating the phrase “and diverge…” in broken pavement, the question moved from a space of grief and gathering into sites where law, punishment, and public life meet.

The marks are positioned to be stepped over. Through photographic clusters, Underfoot holds these temporary inscriptions as evidence of attention and refusal.

		<description>
	Morir es Vivir / Vivir es Morir
A multi-part project made through recorded conversations with people across New Orleans about grief, loss, mortality, rebirth, healing, and hope. Presented across the New Orleans Museum of Art and the New Orleans Public Library during the Covid-19 pandemic, the work asked: what must die, institutionally, personally, relationally, or belief-wise, and what might thrive in its wake?

At NOMA, Morir es Vivir centered on a seating sculpture I built for recorded conversations with participants. Sitting with me inside the museum, people spoke about grief, death, rebirth, and the systems, beliefs, and institutions they felt needed to end. These conversations became a sound and light installation in the Great Hall. At the Main Library, Vivir es Morir became a public companion work: a sculptural listening structure with audio, zine, and space for collective reflection.

While the museum presentation was shaped by institutional limits and censorship, the library version held the work in a free, accessible civic space and allowed the censored material to return through three audio channels: the intended work, the words I fought to keep, and the words that were banned completely.

Together, the installations formed a cycle of regeneration between museum and library, grief and imagination, death and living. The project later expanded into &#38;lt;&#38;gt; &#38;lt;&#38;gt; (Morir es Vivir), a translucent vellum publication made during the 2022 Paper Machine Residency. Combining drawings, photographs, and collected language from community conversations, the book holds a collective authorship of a period of time during the pandemic, moving through inheritance, housing, labor, fossil fuels, prison, revolution, family, and imagination.

	Radio, Documentary, Public Media, 2020–present

	As an extension of my sculptural and performance practice, I have worked in documentary, radio, and public media to hold first-person stories, oral histories, and conversations with artists, workers, organizers, and residents of New Orleans. These works use listening as a material, carrying voices into shared spaces through film, radio broadcast, posters, monitors, and printed matter.

Across documentary shorts, radio interviews, and public screenings, this work traces how people move through crisis, labor, union organizing, grief, cultural inheritance, and collective survival.
