Vivir es Morir

Combining sculpture and audio, Vivir es Morir invites visitors to climb up, sit down, read, and listen to themes exploring death and rebirth.

The initial iteration of this installation at the New Orleans Public Library explores the theme of death as it pertains to institutions. In which ways must we challenge institutions and reimagine them?

Vivir es Morir features a zine with a prologue from artist Kevin Brisco Jr., an essay by artist and NOMA curator Nic Aziz, and the transcript of the full audio.

The installation is comprised off three channels of audio channels:
Channel 1– the uncensored version of an audio collage that was censored by the New Orleans Museum of Art
Channel 2– the content flagged by the NOMA curatorial staff
Channel 3– the content banned by the NOMA director
